An opportunity is open for a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to serve a varied caseload within an educational setting. This contract position involves providing essential orientation and mobility services for a small, manageable group of students, both directly and in a consultative capacity.

In this rewarding role, you’ll empower students to confidently navigate their environments while collaborating closely with educational staff and families.

What you’ll bring:

  • Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
  • Demonstrated experience working in school settings is highly valued
  • Ability to assess, plan, and implement O&M programs tailored to individual student needs
  • Effective communication and rapport-building skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage a caseload and documentation effectively

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct orientation and mobility instruction to 7 students on caseload
  • Provide consultative services for 2 additional students
  • Develop, document, and regularly update individualized instructional plans
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to integrate O&M strategies into students’ daily routines
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with school and professional standards
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute professional insights regarding student progress
