Qualifications/Experience:

• Certification or eligibility as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience providing O&M services in a school-based setting is preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong understanding of instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
• Collaborative mindset to coordinate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility instruction for one student, 30 minutes per week, according to the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Assess and address the student’s travel and mobility needs for the school year (NSY)
• Work in partnership with the existing TVI Teacher to ensure consistency of strategies and maximize student progress
• Track and document progress, adjusting strategies as needed to promote safe and effective navigation skills
• Advocate for accessible environments and support the student’s independence within the school community
