Make a meaningful impact by supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in an engaging school environment. This onsite contract position is based near Peabody, MA, with a schedule of 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm. Spanning the full academic year from September 2026 to June 2027, you’ll be working with a diverse student population, helping them navigate their school day and fostering greater independence and confidence.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license required
- Experience supporting K-12 students with a range of abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
- Compassionate approach to individualized student support
- Familiarity with developing and implementing mobility plans and assessments
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students of varied grade levels
- Assess student skills and tailor mobility plans to individual needs
- Collaborate with educational professionals to integrate mobility goals
- Document progress and maintain data on student outcomes
- Educate school staff and families on strategies for supporting student independence
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment onsite
