Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current, active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) License required
- Prior experience working with K-12 student populations preferred
- Strong understanding of O&M assessment techniques and individualized instructional planning
- Excellent communication abilities when collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability to meet the unique needs of students with varying abilities and backgrounds
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students across a range of grade levels
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students’ specific O&M needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) focusing on safe travel skills and increased independence
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and update educational teams regularly
- Serve as a resource on orientation and mobility for school staff and families
- Adhere to best practices and ethical standards within all service delivery
This is a contract position onsite, 32.5 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 8:15 am – 3:15 pm), aligned with the standard school calendar. You’ll play a crucial role for the duration of the school year, working within a collaborative and student-centered environment.
