An exciting opportunity awaits for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide essential services in a school-based setting. This full-time, onsite contract role offers a dynamic environment to support students in developing critical mobility skills for greater independence and confidence in their educational journey.
Scheduled to begin on August 3, 2026, and extend through May 20, 2027, this position will have you working a full 37.5-hour week. While specific caseload details are forthcoming, you can expect an engaging and purposeful experience in a supportive educational community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or eligibility to obtain certification
- Prior experience working within school environments is highly valued
- Strong understanding of instructional techniques in orientation and mobility
- Ability to adapt plans to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, educators, and families
- Flexibility to work onsite throughout the contract duration
Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs through observations and evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized instruction plans to enhance independent mobility and safe navigation
- Collaborate with teachers and educational teams on student goals and adaptations
- Maintain accurate documentation of sessions, progress, and outcomes
- Provide family education and resources to facilitate student success beyond the classroom
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary support planning
