Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Previous experience working in K-12 school settings preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of individual assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
  • Able to design and implement customized orientation and mobility plans
  • Current licensure or eligibility to practice in the state

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ orientation and mobility needs
  • Develop and communicate individualized instructional plans
  • Provide direct instruction to students to improve independent travel and navigation skills
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers
  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions based on ongoing evaluation
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school and legal requirements
