Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Pooler, Georgia

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by providing crucial Orientation and Mobility (O&M) support in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity starts July 2026 and runs through May 2027, offering a flexible 37.5-hour work week and autonomy to design your own service schedule that aligns with student needs and IEP requirements.

You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team, working across a variety of school sites to empower VI students ranging from 2nd grade through high school. Your expertise will help these learners develop vital navigational skills and independence in their academic environments.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current COMS certification through AVCREP
• Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certificate
• Previous experience supporting visually impaired students, especially within a school or educational setting
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable providing services at multiple sites throughout the week
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to customize your schedule

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs and develop individualized instructional plans
• Deliver direct O&M instruction, ensuring alignment with IEP goals
• Track, document, and report on student progress
• Facilitate communication with school staff and families to support continuity of services
• Travel between designated schools to provide onsite O&M support
