Bring your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to a rewarding contract opportunity supporting visually impaired students from 2nd grade through high school. This dynamic school-based role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students’ independence and confidence as they navigate their educational environment. The assignment runs from late July 2026 through late May 2027, providing a predictable, school-year schedule.

This position is best suited for a professional passionate about guiding students with visual impairments and committed to fostering safe, effective mobility skills. You’ll enjoy the autonomy to design a schedule that complements both your approach and each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), working across several school sites in the area.

Qualifications:

  • Active COMS certification through AVCREP required
  • Valid Georgia PSC (GaPSC) Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired youth
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and creativity in adapting to multiple locations and students’ needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver orientation and mobility instruction to a caseload of VI students
  • Assess students’ needs, develop customized lesson plans, and document progress
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support teams to integrate O&M goals into IEPs
  • Travel between designated school sites (must provide own transportation)
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students
