Make an impact working with students with visual impairments as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist on a contract assignment spanning the 2026-2027 school year. This engaging role focuses on supporting students from 2nd grade through high school, fostering independence and confidence as they navigate school environments. The position is fully onsite and offers the flexibility to design a schedule that meets the needs of both the O&M program and students’ IEP requirements.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) through AVCREP
  • Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certification
  • Proven experience working with visually impaired (VI) students across elementary to high school levels
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families
  • Comfortable traveling to multiple school sites within the district

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized O&M instruction to students in accordance with IEP goals
  • Assess, plan, and develop effective mobility strategies for each student’s unique environment
  • Collaborate with educational teams to ensure accessibility and integration within school settings
  • Maintain thorough records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings as required
  • Advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources to support students’ success
