Make a meaningful impact by supporting student independence as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist through a rewarding contract role in a school environment. Work closely with a small caseload of three students, providing tailored O&M services that foster greater confidence and mobility both on campus and within the community.

Your expertise will be key in helping students develop vital orientation and mobility skills. This opportunity allows for a manageable caseload, with each student's needs varying between direct instruction and indirect consultation.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification
  • Demonstrated experience working with children or students in educational settings
  • Knowledge of mobility techniques, adaptive devices, white cane travel, and accessible navigation
  • Ability to plan, implement, and document individualized O&M services
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and support teams
  • Flexibility and commitment to student-centered service

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct O&M instruction for Student 1 (30 minutes, three times a month) and Student 3 (30 minutes, three times a month)
  • Provide consultative, indirect services for Student 2 (20 minutes, once a month) and Student 3 (15 minutes, once a month)
  • Assess students’ needs, develop goals, and adapt approaches to maximize each learner’s independence
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure effective integration of O&M strategies
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and progress monitoring for each student
  • Adjust instruction to reflect changing goals or school environments
