Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Port Wentworth, Georgia

Make an impact supporting visually impaired students in a dynamic school setting as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. What we’re seeking:

• Current COMS certification through AVCREP
• Valid Georgia PSC teaching certificate
• Experience working with visually impaired students, ideally spanning elementary through high school
• Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized orientation and mobility programs
• Ability to manage caseloads across multiple school locations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent organizational abilities and self-motivation

Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility instruction to VI students ranging from 2nd grade to high school
• Serve multiple school sites within the district, traveling as needed
• Develop and implement customized lesson plans per each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Coordinate your schedule with school staff and students’ needs to maximize service impact
• Document progress and participate in IEP meetings
• Collaborate with teachers, family members, and related service providers
• Maintain compliance with district and state standards for reporting and instruction
