This full-time, contract position is designed to cover a maternity leave beginning February 2027 and concluding in June 2027. Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Orientation & Mobility Specialist Licensure required
- Previous experience supporting students in a school-based setting preferred
- Proficient in developing and implementing individualized mobility and orientation plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, teachers, and families
- Ability to travel between multiple campuses as needed
- Experience with a broad PK-12 student population is an asset
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for students with visual impairments across an age-diverse caseload
- Develop, implement, and monitor tailored orientation and mobility programs to promote student independence
- Collaborate closely with educational teams and families to ensure coordinated support
- Provide direct instruction, including safe travel techniques within school and community environments
- Document progress, attend IEP meetings, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
- Serve as a resource for staff and families on mobility-related strategies and best practices
