Step into a rewarding opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting K-12 students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract-based position serves an itinerant role, working across schools within the district. You'll make a significant impact by empowering students with visual impairments to safely navigate their learning environments and develop independence. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with K-12 students in educational or clinical settings preferred
  • Excellent communication and assessment skills
  • Ability to travel between sites within the district
  • Passion for helping students develop confidence and autonomy
  • Open to candidates licensed outside the state, with eligibility to obtain local credentials if required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct orientation and mobility assessments and write individualized plans
  • Provide direct instruction to students in classroom, campus, and community settings
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to foster consistent skill development
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Maintain thorough, timely documentation and progress reports
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team decision-making
  • Travel across multiple sites throughout the district as part of your weekly schedule
