Key Qualifications:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) with current certification through ACVREP
- Valid GaPSC teaching credential required
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students within a school environment preferred
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, student-centered approach
- Ability to work comfortably onsite across multiple school locations
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students on orientation and mobility techniques, tailoring lessons to IEP goals and student needs
- Empower students to safely and confidently navigate school environments and community settings
- Assess skills and develop individualized student plans; monitor progress and update goals as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, IEP teams, and guardians to optimize student pathways for growth
- Independently set your weekly schedule, balancing O&M needs and student academic activities
