Embrace a dynamic contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting visually impaired students from 2nd grade through high school across multiple school sites in the Savannah area. This onsite role offers the chance to design and implement impactful mobility instruction and develop tailored plans aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

You'll work 37.5 hours per week during the 2026-2027 school year, with flexibility to create your own schedule that fits both your O&M programming and student needs. Collaborate with a dedicated team to foster safe, confident travel skills among students within a supportive educational environment.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Active COMS (Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist) certification through AVCREP
  • Current Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Teaching Certificate
  • Experience providing orientation and mobility instruction to school-age students
  • Comfort working across various school settings and with diverse age groups (elementary to high school)
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage schedules and documentation for students on IEPs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver orientation and mobility services onsite to visually impaired students
  • Travel between different school locations as needed
  • Develop individualized instructional plans, monitor student progress, and maintain required records
  • Collaborate with education teams, families, and other specialists to support each student’s goals
  • Flexibly schedule services to optimize student learning and meet IEP requirements

This role is onsite only and runs from late July 2026 through late May 2027.
