Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Soliant is seeking a dedicated Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M) to join a supportive school district in San Antonio, Texas for the full 2026–2027 school year. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by helping students with visual impairments develop the skills needed to safely and independently navigate their environments.

Position Details

• Location: San Antonio, TX
• Schedule: Full-Time
• Contract: Full 2026–2027 School Year
• Caseload: Infants through Elementary School students
  • (The district has a separate O&M Specialist serving students in grades 6–12.)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct Orientation & Mobility instruction to students
• Deliver indirect services, including:
  • Consultation with teachers and staff
  • Collaboration with educational teams
  • Preparation and adaptation of instructional materials
• Conduct evaluations, including:
  • Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE)
  • Learning Media Assessments (LMA)
  • Orientation & Mobility Assessments
• Attend and participate in ARD meetings
• Travel between campuses as needed (travel time may be billable based on district guidelines)

Qualifications

• Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) or equivalent credentials
• Experience working with infants, preschool, and/or elementary-aged students preferred
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to travel throughout the district as required
