Orientation and Mobility Specialist in San Benito, TX

Step into a valuable opportunity providing Orientation and Mobility (O&M) services to students, supporting their independence and navigation skills in an educational setting. This contract position centers around working with three students, each receiving personalized O&M services tailored to their unique needs. The assignment is structured, purposeful, and allows for meaningful connections with students and educational staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) required
• Experience delivering both direct and consultative O&M services in school settings preferred
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families
• Current knowledge of O&M best practices and relevant regulations
• Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to student needs

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide direct O&M instruction:
  • Student 1: 30 minutes, three times a month
  • Student 3: 30 minutes, three times a month
• Deliver consultative/indirect services:
  • Student 2: 20 minutes, once a month
  • Student 3: 15 minutes, once a month
• Assess students’ mobility needs and develop individualized lesson plans
• Collaborate with school personnel and families to support student progress
• Maintain detailed service records and progress reports
• Support student growth, fostering safe and effective mobility within and outside the school environment
