Apply NowAn experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is needed for a school-based position in San Francisco, CA, for the 25/26 school year. This contract role requires an in-person presence with a commitment of 20+ hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility training to students with visual impairments
- Develop individualized mobility plans and instruct students in safe and effective travel techniques
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to integrate mobility skills into daily routines
- Conduct assessments to monitor students’ progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports
Qualifications:
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS certification preferred)
- Experience working with school-aged children in a mobility training role
- Ability to deliver instruction in person
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of current mobility techniques and tools for visually impaired students
Location: San Francisco, California
