Make a meaningful difference providing specialized support to students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract opportunity serves K-8 students across two or three school sites in the vibrant Sanford, FL area, with the primary focus on direct therapy for compensatory services and evaluations as needed. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct orientation and mobility services to a caseload of 12 students, helping them develop navigation and independence skills.
- Provide compensatory service sessions as the main component of the role, with occasional evaluations as required.
- Collaborate with school teams, including special education staff, to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and progress reports to comply with school and regulatory standards.
- Travel between assigned schools—typically within the Lake Howell zone—to provide scheduled student sessions.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Active National O&M licensure and Vision Certification required.
- Experience working with K-8 aged students, preferably within a school setting.
- Ability to fulfill all credentialing requirements, including providing a valid driver’s license, social security card, physical professional license, successful fingerprinting, demographic form, and a completed I9 (sections 1 & 2).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and adaptability for working in multi-site educational settings.
- Comfortable providing on-site services and working with diverse student populations.
