Key Qualifications:

• Certified as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Previous experience working in school settings or with children preferred

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ mobility strengths and needs
• Develop and deliver tailored orientation and mobility instruction, fostering safe travel skills in both school and community environments
• Teach students to effectively utilize mobility devices, such as canes, and reinforce the use of remaining senses
• Coordinate with educators and related service providers to promote integration of mobility skills within the educational curriculum
• Maintain clear documentation of student progress and communicate updates with families and IEP teams
• Adapt lesson plans based on student progress, feedback, and relevant technological advances
