Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Springfield, MO

Empower students to achieve greater independence by providing vital Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) services in a school-based setting near Springfield, MO. You’ll make a difference for seven students on your primary caseload, plus contribute consultative expertise for two additional students. Qualifications:

• Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience supporting school-age children, ideally within a school or educational setting
• Strong understanding of orientation and mobility techniques and adaptive equipment
• Ability to work flexibly with both direct and consultative responsibilities
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments
• Assess and document students’ abilities, needs, and progress
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet unique student goals
• Provide consultation services to educators and staff for two students
• Train staff and family members on best practices and access strategies
• Maintain regular communication with IEP teams, parents, and related service providers
