Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in educational settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, families, and team members
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized mobility programs
  • Knowledge of current best practices, adaptive equipment, and safety protocols for mobility instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and create tailored orientation and mobility plans for each student
  • Teach students ranging from early childhood through high school safe and effective travel skills, both indoors and outdoors
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure consistency and support across all environments
  • Document progress, monitor outcomes, and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to program planning and goal-setting
