Role Overview:
- Deliver orientation and mobility services for the full school year, working two 40-minute sessions per week.
- Utilize your advanced skills to help a student develop spatial and positional awareness, enabling safe movement within a familiar home environment.
- Foster the student’s ability to identify and navigate to specific features (such as doorways and furniture) using concepts like left/right, near/far, and in/out as outlined by individual learning goals and the Expanded Core Curriculum standards.
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and the support team to maximize instructional outcomes.
- Observe, document, and report progress based on clear O&M objectives and benchmarks.
Qualifications:
- Current endorsement as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
- Experience supporting students with complex developmental or sensory needs is highly desired.
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based teaching and individualized instruction.
- Comfortable providing direct services in a home setting.
