Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working in school settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to design and implement individualized instruction plans
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities
  • Passion for empowering students with visual impairments
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs and school schedules

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver orientation and mobility training using best practices for students with visual impairments
  • Assess student needs and develop tailored lesson plans
  • Teach travel skills, safe navigation, and use of mobility aids
  • Work closely with educators, parents, and specialists to support IEP goals
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and program outcomes
  • Offer guidance and resources to colleagues and families regarding mobility and accessibility
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school community events
