Key Qualifications:
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required
- Prior experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally within schools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary educational teams, students, and families
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized O&M programs
- Understanding of assistive technology and mobility devices as they pertain to student needs
- Flexibility working in a part-time (.2 FTE) contract role for the academic year
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized O&M instruction to four students as outlined in their IEPs
- Conduct student assessments and develop customized plans to address each student’s mobility and orientation needs
- Train students in the use of mobility aids, adaptive techniques, and safe navigation within the school and community environments
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure student progress and facilitate access to curriculum and spaces
- Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate in IEP meetings, providing updates and recommendations
