School Occupational Therapist | Arlington Heights, Illinois

Make a difference by supporting middle school students through high-quality occupational therapy services in a vibrant academic environment near Arlington Heights, IL. This contract opportunity offers a regular schedule of 36.25 hours a week, working closely with 6th to 8th graders. The position involves providing services both within district programs and at an off-campus placement, collaborating with colleagues in general education co-taught and self-contained settings.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program at the master’s or doctorate level
• Completion of required fieldwork/clinical training through the OT program
• Successful completion of the NBCOT national certification exam
• Active and unrestricted OT license in Illinois, including fulfillment of continuing education to maintain licensure
• Previous experience in a school setting is a plus
• Knowledgeable with IEPs and the school-based therapy process
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with educators, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide occupational therapy assessments, develop treatment plans, and offer direct services for students in both general and special education settings
• Support students’ educational access, participation, and success by addressing fine motor, sensory, and functional skills
• Collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary teams, integrating OT strategies into classroom and school routines
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation, including progress notes and IEP contributions
• Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development, and parent communications
