Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Valid occupational therapy license in Illinois
  • Previous experience in school-based settings preferred
  • Background in home health, healthcare, or teletherapy a plus
  • Comfortable supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs)
  • Proficiency in conducting and documenting evaluations in accordance with school guidelines
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and educational teams
  • Adaptability and confidence in managing a dynamic caseload

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in accordance with individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Perform assessments and evaluations to determine eligibility and establish therapy goals
  • Oversee and support COTAs, ensuring best practices in therapy delivery
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to provide integrated support for each student
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and team conferences as a vital member of the school community
  • Deliver services both in-person and virtually if needed, adjusting approaches to best fit each situation
