This is a contract opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist in an Extended School Year (ESY) program focused on intensive special education. The program runs from June 29th to August 6th, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 7:45 am to 1:15 pm.
You’ll support students with autism and other complex disorders who benefit from a high level of individualized and therapeutic services. The environment is collaborative, supportive, and ideal for professionals passionate about helping children thrive.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience providing school-based OT services, preferably in special education settings
- Knowledge of best practices for supporting students with autism and complex developmental needs
- Ability to adapt interventions to individual student goals and abilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive and respectful environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Collaborate with special education teachers, aides, and related service providers to develop and implement effective strategies
- Maintain thorough documentation of sessions, progress, and attendance
- Engage families and educational teams in student goal setting and progress
- Adjust interventions based on ongoing assessment and student feedback
- Assist in creating an encouraging and inclusive classroom atmosphere
