School Occupational Therapist - Des Plaines, Illinois

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Current licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Illinois
• At least six months of experience in a school-based setting preferred
• Strong understanding of educational environments and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and parents
• Ability to assess, plan, and implement therapy interventions tailored to each student’s unique needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to develop and implement IEP goals
• Deliver individual and group therapy sessions focused on targeted skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and reports in accordance with school and state requirements
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing your expertise to comprehensive support plans
• Offer recommendations for classroom modifications and adaptive equipment when needed
• Support transitions and inclusion activities to foster students’ participation in all aspects of the school day
