Occupational Therapist School Setting in Des Plaines, IL

Make a difference in the lives of students as a school-based Occupational Therapist in a dynamic, supportive environment. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to provide direct therapy services across multiple school sites, serving students from Pre-K through age 22 as they transition to adulthood. With a varied caseload and collaboration across elementary, middle, and high schools, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing each student’s academic and functional success.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Occupational Therapist license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Current Illinois licensure required
• Previous school-based experience highly preferred
• Ability to travel between assigned school locations within the district
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
• Must complete fingerprinting as part of credentialing

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and develop individualized intervention plans
• Provide direct and consultative OT services to a diverse caseload, supporting participation in classroom and school activities
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other service providers
• Maintain accurate documentation as required by the district and state regulations
• Adapt interventions for students with varying abilities, ensuring access to educational opportunities
• Attend IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams

This is an on-site only position, itinerant between multiple schools, with start and end times that may vary depending on assignment. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through early June, with a weekly schedule of approximately 35–37.5 hours.
