As a contract Occupational Therapist in a school-based setting near Des Plaines, IL, you’ll support students as they build essential skills for success in and beyond the classroom. With your expertise, you’ll collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to create impactful programs tailored to students’ individual needs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current Illinois state OT licensure (or eligibility to obtain prior to starting)
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of IEP process and documentation requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and parents
  • Commitment to adapting interventions for diverse learning styles and abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students (K-12), addressing fine motor, sensory, and self-care skills
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and support development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, support teams, and families to monitor progress and adjust interventions
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of services and student outcomes
  • Participate in team meetings and offer training on strategies that promote student growth and independence
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages student participation and confidence
