Step into an engaging school-based opportunity as an Occupational Therapist supporting two middle schools near the Washington, DC area, just 45 minutes south of the city. This contract position is ideal for an OT looking for a flexible part-time schedule that integrates smoothly with other clinical commitments. With a consistent school-year placement, you’ll play a crucial role in helping students succeed.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Occupational Therapy license in Virginia is required
- Experience in school-based OT preferred
- Ability to provide both direct and consultative OT services to middle school students
- Must meet credentialing requirements, including VA Dept. of Social Services background check and TB test
- Comfortable managing a balanced caseload with effective time management skills
- Strong communication and collaboration with special education staff, students, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services to a diverse caseload of approximately 10 students
- Offer consultative support for an additional 15 students, collaborating with educators and families
- Provide occasional evaluations as needed throughout the school year
- Work across two main middle schools, with the possibility of an additional elementary school assignment
- Develop and implement treatment plans supporting student IEP goals
- Engage in documentation, progress monitoring, and participation in team meetings with school professionals
