This role is ideal for licensed Occupational Therapists who thrive in a school environment and possess a strong foundation in educational terminology, standardized assessment tools, and the Special Education process. Assignments may vary, with some itinerant placements across multiple campuses within the San Fernando Valley area.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to K-12 students, adapting your approach to diverse caseloads and varying school assignments.
- Conduct standardized assessments, interpret results, and participate in IEP meetings as part of the school therapy team.
- Utilize knowledge of California Department of Education guidelines to inform practice and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with educators, staff, and families to promote student success and independence.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and progress notes in compliance with district and legal requirements.
- Work effectively with limited supervision, demonstrating initiative and strong organizational skills.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
- Current, active OT license issued by the State of California.
- At least some experience or knowledge related to occupational therapy in educational settings; familiarity with school-based therapy practices is a must.
- Competence in managing caseloads that cover the full K-12 spectrum.
- Skillful in using standardized assessment tools and navigating Special Education regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
