Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as an OT or COTA on a flexible contract basis with options for both full-time and part-time schedules. This dynamic role is located in a school environment near Hyattsville, MD, where you’ll collaborate with educators and students to facilitate growth and functional independence.
Your primary focus will be helping with make-up sessions rather than managing a dedicated caseload. This unique setting allows you to engage with a diverse student population, providing push-in support during engaging Art and Life Skills classes. For those preferring a part-time schedule, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday still offers a robust 30-hour workweek. Full-time candidates benefit from varied responsibilities, including dedicated time for documentation, meetings, and professional catch-up on Wednesday afternoons following student half-days.
What we’re seeking:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Previous experience in school-based occupational therapy is preferred, but not required
- Positive, adaptable approach with strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to supporting student participation and engagement in classroom activities
Role highlights:
- Focused on providing make-up therapy sessions—no overwhelming caseload management
- Push-in group facilitation during Art and Life Skills, fostering creativity and independence
- Participate in a supportive school community with year-round operations
- Structured, consistent schedule with dedicated time for non-student duties on Wednesdays (full-time)
- Onsite interviews allow you to experience the school’s vibrant community before making your decision
- Initial 3-month contract, with a pathway for consideration for a permanent position
