Step into a full-time contract role impacting students across the southwest Houston area as a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist. In this position, you'll be essential in supporting the diverse needs of children and young adults (ages 3–21), working across a cluster of 6–7 schools within a manageable, zone-based area—all with the convenience of using the district office as your home base. Your schedule runs a consistent 37.5 hours per week, allowing you to develop a strong presence and continuity with your caseload.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas OT license
- Prior school-based or pediatric OT experience highly preferred (advanced COTAs with extensive experience may be considered)
- Must complete Texas state background check and fingerprinting
- Experience conducting evaluations and participating in ARDS meetings
- Strong documentation skills; familiarity with SHARES and Onward software, or willingness to learn
- Excellent time management and independent working ability
- Candidates must not be former employees of this district nor have been terminated from any school district
You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Managing a caseload targeting ~70 students, with approximately 30–40 students receiving direct therapy services (not weekly for all; varies from weekly to every few weeks)
- Coordinating and conducting occupational therapy assessments for students with an age span from preschool to young adult
- Participating in ARDS and collaborating closely with educators and families to ensure effective IEP implementation
- Maintaining detailed records using district-required software and Excel logs
- Providing treatment as the lead OT, as no COTA support is available
- Traveling between assigned schools within a dedicated geographic area
