Step into a rewarding opportunity to provide critical support as a school-based Occupational Therapist for extended school year (ESY) services. This contract position involves working 1:1 with a male student who is currently placed at a residential hospital in Hampstead, NH. You’ll play an important role in helping this new-to-services student build skills and routines, supporting both their personal growth and educational development. Qualifications & Experience:
- Active New Hampshire Occupational Therapy license required
- Experience working in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy settings
- Previous experience with students on a 1:1 basis, preferably in special education or hospital environments
- Ability to develop trust and rapport with students who are new to therapeutic services
- Skilled at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including hospital staff and educational professionals
- Strong communication, time management, and adaptability are essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted OT services on Mondays and Fridays, anytime between 8:15 AM and 2:30–3:00 PM
- Gradually build session duration to meet the needs and comfort of the student
- Coordinate closely with residential hospital staff to ensure integrated care
- Track progress, adjust interventions as needed, and document sessions
- Become the student’s advocate, focusing on developing daily living, sensory, and fine motor skills
- Maintain clear and regular communication with all stakeholders
