Occupational Therapist School Setting - Laurel, MD

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Active state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Previous experience working in schools, with knowledge of IEPs and related documentation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with educators, families, and other related services providers
• Ability to develop and implement effective, individualized therapeutic interventions
• Compassion, adaptability, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to identify students’ occupational therapy needs
• Deliver targeted therapy sessions to support students’ fine motor, sensory, and adaptive skills
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to integrate OT strategies into classroom settings
• Document progress and participate in IEP meetings as required
• Educate families and school staff on best practices for carryover and generalization of skills
• Stay current with best practices and compliance in special education
