Occupational Therapist School Setting in Laurel, MD

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in grades 8-12 (ages 13-21) as a school-based Occupational Therapist. In this role, you will deliver impactful services at a year-round educational setting near Laurel, MD. Your expertise will make a difference for students receiving approximately 15-17 direct service hours each week, complemented by consultative support for the school community.

Start as soon as possible and gain the chance to make an immediate, meaningful contribution. With a unique schedule, Wednesdays are half days for students, allowing you to devote the afternoon to documentation, team meetings, and catching up on essential tasks.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Valid OT licensure for the state of Maryland
• Previous experience in a school-based setting, with a passion for working with adolescents and young adults
• Knowledge of IEP process, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication, organizational, and consultative skills
• Ability to engage candidates during onsite interviews, as school requires in-person visits before placement decisions
• Strong commitment to fostering student independence and school participation

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct occupational therapy services individually and in groups
• Provide consultative input to staff and families to support student success
• Develop, monitor, and document progress on treatment goals aligned with IEPs
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, and other service providers
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive educational environment
• Manage and prioritize caseload efficiently, utilizing half-day Wednesdays to stay current on paperwork and planning
