Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students’ development in the beautiful region of Southern New Mexico! An experienced Occupational Therapist—or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) under supervision—is needed to provide on-site services for a well-established district. Spanning a full school year, this contract position offers the chance to make a lasting impact while working with a diverse caseload from early childhood through high school across multiple school locations.

This role offers an engaging, dynamic work environment ideal for professionals who enjoy variety in their day and are excited about contributing to student success. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and play a key part in fostering independence and achievement for learners of all ages.

What we’re looking for:

  • Active NM state OT licensure (NMRLD) and NMPED certification (required by start date; NMPED certification is quick to obtain if started promptly)
  • Previous school-based OT or COTA experience preferred
  • Willingness to supervise COTAs (if applying as an OT)
  • Comfortable traveling between school sites within the district
  • Strong communication and case management skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy to students
  • Motivated to serve diverse communities—in or around Southern NM, including areas near El Paso, Deming, or White Sands National Park

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct therapy and consultative services to students in accordance with IEP goals
  • Supervise and support COTAs (OTs only)
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and district teams
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and reports
  • Adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of each student
