Occupational Therapist School Setting in New York, NY

Step into an exciting opportunity to support young learners in a brand new early intervention school setting. This contract position is perfect for a passionate Occupational Therapist interested in helping shape an innovative EI program during its inaugural year. You’ll start with a manageable part-time schedule and have the unique chance to gradually transition to full-time as the caseload expands—ideal for those who value flexibility and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Provide occupational therapy services to children in early intervention, with both individual and group sessions
• Collaborate daily with a dedicated team including special education teachers and 1:1 teacher assistants for every child
• Assess students’ individual needs, develop treatment plans, and document progress in accordance with school and regulatory standards
• Engage with families and educational staff to ensure integrated support for each child’s development
• Adapt interventions as required to support each child's functional and academic success

Qualifications:

• Valid Occupational Therapist licensure, with credentials to practice in New York
• Previous experience in school-based or early intervention OT strongly preferred
• Compassion for young learners and an ability to engage families as therapeutic partners
• Comfort with flexibility as you move from part-time (a few hours weekly) to full-time (up to 40 hours/week) as caseloads grow
• Skilled in collaboration within multidisciplinary teams in education or pediatric settings
