Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid and current Occupational Therapist license for the state of Virginia
- Prior experience or strong interest in working with secondary (middle and high school) student populations
- Understanding of school-based OT assessment, intervention strategies, and compliance with IEP processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt therapy approaches to varied learning styles and functional needs
- Strong organizational skills and confidence managing multiple student cases
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students in secondary grade levels, supporting their access to the educational curriculum
- Evaluate students and develop individualized treatment plans in alignment with IEP objectives
- Collaborate regularly with educators, support staff, and parents to ensure integrated support for students
- Document progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
- Provide consultative services to classroom staff on strategies to promote functional independence
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain abreast of best practices in school-based occupational therapy
