Occupational Therapist School Setting - Newport News, VA

Key Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
• Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia
• Previous experience working in a school setting preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to develop and implement individualized plans to support students’ academic and functional progress

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support students’ participation in daily school routines
• Assess students’ needs, document progress, and contribute to IEP meetings and planning
• Deliver skill-building interventions that address fine motor development, self-care, sensory processing, and classroom participation
• Maintain accurate records and timely documentation in compliance with school and state requirements
