Qualifications:

  • Valid and current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Alabama
  • Previous experience in school-based OT is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with both school and home health OT practices
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Skill in creating, documenting, and evaluating individualized treatment plans

Role Highlights:

  • Assess students’ needs and develop individualized intervention plans to enhance life skills, fine/gross motor abilities, sensory processing, and participation in educational activities
  • Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services, both individually and in small groups
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure carryover of therapeutic strategies
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and contribute to IEP meetings as required
  • Educate and empower teachers and parents on supportive strategies and modifications
  • Adapt equipment, classroom materials, and activities for optimal student access
