Empower students to reach their fullest potential as a contract occupational therapist serving multiple schools across an engaging county in the Salem, AL area. This itinerant role supports elementary, middle, and high school students, collaborating with educators and families to foster functional independence, participation, and academic success for learners of all abilities.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Licensed occupational therapist (with valid state license or eligibility)
- Experience in school-based OT settings strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of individualized education program (IEP) processes and documentation
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, speech and physical therapists, and family members
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities for balancing a county-wide itinerant caseload
- Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in diverse educational environments
- Effective written and verbal communication with students, staff, and parents
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services across 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school
- Evaluate and reassess students to develop and implement individualized intervention plans
- Travel between multiple campuses to support a varied caseload (exact numbers pending)
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress notes in line with school policies
- Participate in IEP meetings, offering expertise to support student access to curriculum
- Consult with teachers and staff, providing strategies to accommodate students’ needs within the classroom
- Adapt therapy and schedules as caseload and hours per week are confirmed and evolve
