Step into a rewarding opportunity making a positive impact in the lives of elementary students as a contract Occupational Therapist. This role focuses on delivering specialized support for a school-based caseload, including work with medically fragile students, in a supportive educational environment near San Marcos, CA. The assignment is set for 37.5 hours a week from August 18th through the end of December, with a strong likelihood of extension.
Required Qualifications and Background:
- Active Occupational Therapist license in California
- Demonstrated experience in a school-based OT setting, preferably with elementary-aged students
- Familiarity with providing therapy and interventions to medically fragile populations
- Strong knowledge of IEP processes, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families
- Ability to organize caseload and balance priorities in a dynamic school environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and develop individualized therapeutic plans, tailoring support to each child’s unique challenges
- Deliver direct therapy and consultative services to students, adapting strategies for medically fragile students as required
- Collaborate regularly with teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure integrated care
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to progress reports, and maintain thorough, timely documentation of all services provided
- Provide resources and recommendations for classroom adaptations and assistive technology that support student participation and access
- Support staff and family education regarding the needs of students receiving OT services
