Step into a vital role as a school-based Occupational Therapist, serving students across several educational settings near Shawnee, KS. This contract opportunity runs through May 2027 and offers you the autonomy to design your daily schedule, visiting between one and three schools each day based on your caseload. With 50-60 students assigned, your expertise will empower young learners to reach their full potential.
As a traveling professional in this position, you will collaborate with supportive school teams at various sites, including Camber, Bridges Academy, New Chelsea Elementary, Emerson Elementary, and Welborn Elementary. Your skills in evaluation, treatment planning, and hands-on therapy intervention will play a crucial role in students' academic and functional success.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Active Kansas Occupational Therapy license (required)
- Previous school-based OT experience strongly preferred
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals
- Skilled in providing direct and consultative OT services
- Professional communication and adaptability across K-12 settings
- Capable of managing a diverse, manageable caseload
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and support students with a range of occupational needs
- Develop and execute individualized therapy plans in accordance with student IEPs
- Track and report on student progress
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families
- Travel to multiple school sites as scheduled (1-3 schools per day)
- Adjust approaches to meet the unique needs of each student
