Make a positive impact in students’ lives as a contract Occupational Therapist for a school-based setting in the South Lyon, MI area. In this role, you'll collaborate with educational teams to help students reach their fullest potential, supporting their ability to participate in daily school activities. The assignment is anticipated to run from September to December, with the possibility of extending if a permanent hire is not secured.
Your expertise will play a crucial role as you deliver occupational therapy services to students, working closely with educators and families to develop personalized strategies and interventions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Michigan
- Experience with school-based OT practices preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Passion for supporting children's learning and independence
Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional abilities and needs within the classroom setting
- Design and implement evidence-based interventions for fine motor, sensory, and self-care skills
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate therapy goals into daily classroom activities
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school and state guidelines
- Communicate progress and strategies to families and multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt services as needed to best support each student
