Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students in the Washington DC area, just a short drive from the city. This role offers a unique opportunity for a licensed Occupational Therapist to work collaboratively with school staff, making a real difference in the lives of middle school students. Flexible, part-time hours (20 per week) make it ideal for professionals balancing clinical and school settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license in Virginia
- Experience in school-based or pediatric OT roles preferred
- Strong communication skills to provide both direct therapy and consultative support
- Ability to adapt flexibly to changing caseloads and school environments
- Capacity to start promptly and complete credentialing requirements, including a VA Dept. of Social Services check and a recent Tuberculosis test
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve up to two middle schools, with the potential addition of an elementary school
- Manage a caseload of 25 students; provide direct therapy for approximately 10, with consultative services for the remaining 15
- Deliver both direct therapy and consultative sessions, adapting services to the evolving needs of the school community
- Participate in student evaluations as needed throughout the academic year
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and the district’s OT team to support students’ development and success
- Maintain records in compliance with district and state requirements
