An exciting opportunity is available for an Occupational Therapist eager to support students’ growth and independence in a dynamic educational setting near the Washington, DC area. This contract position offers the flexibility to design your own part-time schedule (20 hours per week), making it ideal for those seeking to balance clinical and school-based work throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
You will primarily serve two middle schools, with the potential addition of an elementary population, providing both direct and consultative occupational therapy services to a diverse group of students. Your focus will be empowering learners to achieve classroom success and promoting functional participation.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid and current Occupational Therapist license issued by the state of Virginia
- Previous experience in school-based OT strongly preferred
- Background in both direct therapy and consultation services for school-age students is highly valued
- Proficiency in evaluation, reporting, and developing targeted IEP strategies
- Must complete a VA Department of Social Services background check and TB test promptly
- Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct OT interventions to approximately 10 students and consultative support for an additional 15 students
- Assess and document student needs and progress, potentially conducting evaluations as needed
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate OT strategies within classroom settings
- Partake in IEP meetings and provide expertise on adaptive equipment, accommodations, and skill development
- Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with school policies
