Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing skilled occupational therapy services within a supportive school setting near the southwest Houston area. This contract, full-time role is designed for occupational therapists (OT) committed to empowering students ages 3-21, helping them reach their fullest potential in both academic and social settings. You’ll be assigned to a manageable zone (6–7 schools) based on your ZIP code, offering the chance to build relationships with the teams and students you serve.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current, active Texas OT license
- Experience providing school-based OT services required
- Strong skills in conducting evaluations and attending ARDs/IEP meetings
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents (3-21 years old)
- Comfortable with a caseload of approximately 70 students, with a focus on consultative services (30-40 direct)
- Proficient in using school health and special education documentation software (preferably SHARES, Onward, Excel)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to work independently (no COTAs will assist)
- Open to experienced COTAs with extensive school experience
Responsibilities:
- Provide assessments, direct therapeutic interventions, and consultative services for students requiring OT across multiple schools in an assigned area
- Participate in ARDs and contribute to IEPs using appropriate documentation technology
- Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with district and state requirements
- Communicate progress and recommendations to students’ educational teams and families
- Adapt scheduling to meet students’ needs on a rotating basis
