Step into an impactful role supporting K-12 and elementary students near Tacoma, WA as a school-based Occupational Therapist on a contract basis for the 2026-27 academic year. This in-person position runs from August 31 through June 17, offering the opportunity to make a difference across two dynamic environments—one serving homeschooled students participating in classes, including Montessori programs, and another at the elementary level. With a .8 opening and a 30-hour workweek, you'll have meaningful interaction time while maintaining a balanced schedule.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active or eligible Occupational Therapist licensure in Washington state
- Prior experience or strong interest in school-based OT practice
- Ability to work with diverse student populations (K-12 and elementary)
- Familiarity with IEP documentation, goal-setting, and related services for students
- Confidence in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Reliable transportation for working across two school sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver OT services in compliance with students’ IEPs and educational plans
- Assess, develop, and implement interventions to address students’ motor, sensory, and adaptive needs
- Facilitate student engagement and participation in classroom and school activities
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to support each child’s goals
- Document progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in meetings
- Provide consultative support to staff and families as needed
- Travel between the two assigned school locations as required
