About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide school-based services to students in Tempe, AZ and surrounding communities. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for screening, evaluating, and providing services within the professional occupational therapy scope of practice while supporting students' educational and functional success.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective interventions that help students reach their academic and developmental goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Screen and evaluate referred students to determine occupational therapy needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor occupational therapy treatment plans.
  • Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide remediation, restoration, and activity compensation interventions to support student success.
  • Utilize assistive technology services to address educationally related functional deficits.
  • Plan and prepare therapeutic activities tailored to individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to provide recommendations and strategies for student support.
  • Prepare accurate and timely progress reports and maintain required documentation.
  • Attend IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
  • Supervise and monitor the job performance and caseload of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTAs).
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations regarding occupational therapy services.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Arizona Occupational Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
  • Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and special education regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
