School Occupational Therapist | Torrington, Connecticut

A contract opening is available for a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students across all grade levels, from Pre-K through 12th grade. This district-wide position offers a unique opportunity to make a broad impact, engaging with diverse learners and collaborating closely with educators and families.

This assignment initially covers approximately 12 weeks for a maternity/FMLA leave, with a high likelihood of extension, although only the initial term can be guaranteed at this time. Candidates must be fully committed to a temporary assignment, with the understanding that extension is likely but not assured.

Qualifications:

• Valid Connecticut Occupational Therapist license or active COTA certification (CT DPH License, NBCOT exam passed)
• Reliable transportation to navigate district sites
• Previous experience in school-based settings preferred
• Comfortable supporting students with diverse needs and collaborating with educational teams
• COTA applicants must be able to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist as required by state guidelines

Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy services to students district-wide, addressing educational and therapeutic goals
• Develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families to support student progress and participation
• Foster an inclusive environment promoting independence and academic success
• Maintain timely and thorough records as per district protocols
