Step into a vital role providing specialized support for students Pre-K through 12th grade in a dynamic, district-wide setting. A well-respected school district near Waterbury, CT, is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time contract covering an FMLA leave—starting as soon as possible for approximately 12 weeks, with a strong likelihood of extension (though only the maternity coverage period is guaranteed in the initial contract). This is a fantastic opportunity for those ready to make a meaningful impact across diverse age groups and student needs.
You’ll travel between campuses as needed, working closely with educational staff, students, and families to implement treatment plans, conduct evaluations, and document progress. COTAs will be supported by a supervising OT.
What we seek:
- Active Connecticut OT license or COTA license/certification (CT DPH License; NBCOT exam passed)
- Prior school-based experience preferred
- Comfort working with students from early childhood through high school
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work at multiple sites
- Commitment to a 12-week temporary assignment, with openness to potential extension
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students Pre-K–12
- Collaborating with teachers, special educators, and multidisciplinary teams
- Assessing student needs and progress, and developing/implementing intervention plans
- Maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with district/state/federal requirements
- For COTAs: working under the supervision of an OT to carry out appropriate plans of care
This contract offers the chance to develop school-based experience, work district-wide in supportive teams, and serve a vibrant student community. Scheduling details are flexible pending district confirmation (approx. 7–7.5 hr/day).
If you are a committed school-based OT or COTA ready to take on a rewarding temporary assignment with room for possible extension, apply today and bring your expertise to a district in need!
